I am so excited to see this fine art wedding editorial at the historic Riverwood Mansion featured today on Wedding Sparrow! You can see the full wedding feature HERE!
I loved getting the chance to explore this amazing Nashville wedding venue that is just dripping with history and sentiment. Riverwood Mansion was built in the late 1790’s. It has a rich history for hosting extravagant events with famous guests including seven U.S. presidents.
The editorial was planned and styled by the one and only Lacy Geary, and the florals were done by the incredible Kelly Lenard. The creative team was so talented! Titled “Spring Arising,” this editorial was created to inspire the refined bride looking for a muted color palette, but not wanting to settle for all neutrals or all white. It’s possible to have color on your wedding day, even if you aren’t a fan of the bold or the bright! I love the painterly effect of this historical mansion and the hauntingly beautiful atmosphere created by the centuries-old walls.
The colors in the bride’s bouquet here completely transform depending on her surroundings. When inside the mansion, the colors take on a more subdued hue, complimenting the beauty of the historic walls and architecture all around. You can see the inspiration that came from those last weeks of winter, putting the serenity of that time into flower form and showcasing it through stunning film photography.
Then as the bride slowly makes her way outside to the grounds surrounding the Riverwood Estate wedding venue, the florals begin to transition. Suddenly the colors brighten up and take on the vibrancy of the greenery outside. The exact same bouquet, but now viewed differently. The purples and yellows start to take center stage and pop out of the arrangement, while the muted reds of the hellebores slowly move into the background. You can see how the inspiration of Spring Arising is revealed here, and it is magnificent to watch!
Because of this intrinsic transformation, these images can serve as inspiration to both kinds of brides – those who want to pull from the colors of winter, and those who want to celebrate with the colors of Spring!
